this is one of three books on amazon that i used to pass the current test

This is a required text for my class so I had no choice about what text was required. I'm very disappointed, especially given the price of textbooks, even through Amazon. Thank goodness I didn't pay the full price through college bookstore! It seems more appropriate for a high school civics class. I find it very superficial, not enough substance; it will give me the basics only. I hope that will be enough to be able to get a paralegal position in the field. Hopefully administrators will look harder for a better text, or perhaps a group of readings that offer much of the same material.

It came on time and just as promised. I love this book. Thank you.

The book provides what to look for in a computer forensics expert, what that person can/should do for the money you are paying, and how to get access to evidence stored on devices, search engines, websites, social media, or even online gaming data.The book also presents explanations of what statutes are out there, such as the Stored Communications Act and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, and how they may make acquisition of digital evidence more procedurally complex. Will a subpoena get the job done? Do you need a search warrant? It all depends on the specific situation. This book not only discusses the matters, but also devotes a section to motions necessary to acquire the evidence and how to preserve it for court.All told, it is an incredibly valuable overview of the field for any legal professional.

I wanted to read this book because I'm a writer and in one of the books that I'm working on the plot involves a bit of forensic probing into a computer. Rather than simply sound like a TV detective using cliche terms, I thought it would be useful and interesting to know how such work is really done and just how complex (and reliable) this type of forensic investigation can be. I can't say that I sat down and read the book cover to cover (though if you were a lawyer or someone studying criminology you would certainly get a lot out of reading it), but I've read the chapters that are pertinent to my story and I have to say I've found the writing interesting, entertaining and extremely useful. I think this is a book most lawyers (including prosecutors) should have on their shelf and if you happen to be a fiction writer or a crime writer, I think you'll find this book well worth the cover price.The book goes well beyond the scope that I was expecting, too. It includes information on how digital forensics can be used with social media, finding files and photos files on computers that have been erased, how to hire the right expert to do the work for you (if you're an attorney, those pages alone are worth owning the book) and then takes you through preserving evidence, presenting it to get warrants, using the evidence in court, etc. It really is a fascinating book and I'm sure every writer in Hollywood will be buying a copy. It is an excellent writer's reference tool--and the only one like it that I could find.A good read on a somewhat obscure subject and I'm sure it's destined to be the classic text on the subject. I just hope the publisher is willing to have it updated every few years--it's certainly worth the effort.

When I got this book to review, I was worried that a book for "Legal Professionals" would be extremely boring and technically "light." I was happily wrong on both accounts. While this book is a legal textbook, it's an "easy read" because it's written in plain language and is a walkthrough from pre-trial to trial.I work in IT security, and this is one of the most helpful books I've read in quite some time. It helps me understand what attorneys look for and how to use what amounts to "best practices." I've also learned about a few good tools as well. If you're a security manager, you need to buy this book.For attorneys, even non-technical ones, this book is extremely valuable. It provides quality explanations that aren't jargon-laden, and has lots of current case law references. If you're going after any sort of digital evidence for any reason, then this book should live on your desk.This book is a page turner, and that's not any slight against the book. It's filled with lots of information that you'll want to keep easily accessible for handy references.

This is a cookbook that is undecided as to its focus. On one hand, it emphasizes the quick and easy ... using canned beef roast. On the other hand, it devotes a full chapter to offal - oxtails, tongue, and other 4+ hour projects. The discussion of corn flour/ corn grits / cornmeal/ polenta/ masa harina / masarepa / masa tamal is incomplete and of questionable accuracy. Alternatives to the tamales are often referenced but without instructions for shaping and cooking the masa. Recipes are given many alternatives - butter, shortening or lard, e.g. - but without any indication of how the choice affects the results.However, the many weaknesses do not result in a useless book. Rather reading the recipes gives a cook an understanding of how the traditional cook looks at a tamale, how they modify it to match the ingredients at hand, how they adapt it to new flavors and ingredients in a new environment. There are also a few specific recipes that caught my fancy - "Coconut Lime Corundas", "Bone Marrow Tamales or Corundas", "Albondiga Meat Tamales". But, no, I will not be trying "Oreo Tamales" in the foreseeable future.

Tamales are an act of love: They are laborious and time-consuming--unless you have helping hands to. You go through the labor because you love to eat them--and so do the people you love. How to get around all that time-consuming work, yet remain true to the tradition that goes hand-in-hand with tamales, and their unique, satisfying, wonderful taste?This West Coast cook and restaurateur , who also wrote “Tamales 101” way back in 2002, has spent so much time making tamales and teaching tamale-making, that her experience has taught her shortcuts. She shares her tips in this book.Don't knock this book for containing "short cuts"! After all, the title does claim "Fast". It stands up to that claim. It also stands up very nicely to its claim "Delicious". If you are looking for strictly traditional recipes, pick up Tapp's older book, or any old-timey, quality Mexican cookbook. You can even turn to the all-encompassing, 5-pound, "Gran Cocina Latina" by Mircel Presilla. But if--like me--you've gone through such books and found the tamale recipes just too much to tackle at this stage in your life, you might want to try this one on for size.You should take a browse through the “Look Inside” feature of this book and you will find masa recipes. You will see that there are recipes from scratch, but also using pre-made masa from the grocery store. And some of the recipes are down-right simple!One of the criticisms of her first book was that the recipes were too large to fit in standard home mixers and quantities were too big. Also, each step in a recipe was a recipe in itself and were too time-consuming. She has learned from those comments and the recipes in this book are very approachable for the home cook: Smaller portions and sometimes using canned, quality, sauces, chiles, tomatillos, beans, etc. (There is a super easy salsa that uses a can of V8 juice, which I found to work very well. Don't underestimate the cooking power of V8 and no-salt V8 as an ingredient...)The tips she provides really did boost my self-confidence! Instructions are easy to follow and straightforward. There are suggestions for which recipes and techniques are suitable and “best” for beginners. She advises to master one wrapping technique before trying another. That was great advice for me.Pictures in this book are for the most part helpful: The folding techniques (for sure); but I found certain pictures—like the full page shot of little piles of dried masa—not so helpful because there were no captions. In a teaching book like this one, I think there should have been more pictures for prepared masa and step-by-step techniques.Page layout is easy on the eyes: Short introduction, followed by an ingredient list in a dark-enough blue san-serif type, alongside recipe instructions. There is not a picture for each recipe, but there are plenty full-color pictures.If you are experienced in cooking Mexican dishes, you may find some of the filling recipes a bit basic. If you have never made tamales but want to, and/or don’t have a repertoire of Mexican dishes under your belt to use as fillings and sauces, I think this book could be invaluable to you.For me: I found the dough recipes and the tips very valuable; liked some of the simple salsas, and turned to some of the filling recipes in the “Nose-to-Tail Tamales” chapter: Beef Cheeks and Wine, Lamb Head, Tongue (beef), Cow’s Foot, and last, but definitely not least, the Wild Boar Carnitas. There are other chapters for fillings, too: Quicker and somewhat simplier. If you are very short on time, these filling recipes will be helpful to you.If you find that, using her recipes, your masa is coming out too wet: Remember that climate makes a difference. These recipes were created in a drier climate than where I’m at: People in more humid environments might need to cut back on liquid to start, then add a tablespoon or so at a time to reach the right consistency (Kind of like making bread dough.)There is a chapter of 15 vegetarian and vegan tamales. My two favorites: One, a very simple onion and cheese filling and the other, a refried bean, fresh jalapenos and cheese.If you are looking for dessert tamales and corundas, you’ll find them in this book: Fig (fresh or dried), Oreo, Applesauce Spice, Coconut Lime, Dulce de Leche and more.Other notes:--Loved the chapter on “Tontos”, inside-out tamales, where you put the filling and sauce over the cooked masa dough. You can keep a supply of the tontos in the freezer. Making tontos helped me get better acquainted with the masa, so that I felt at ease with the dough. Then I felt no trepidation when I went to use the dough to make tamales.--There is a great filling made with canned, water-packed tuna.--The fillings in the chapter “Meat Tamales” can all stand alone—without being formed into tamales.**I received a temporary download of this cookbook from the publisher. I have been working with its recipes and scrutinizing it page by page for several months now, prior to publishing. It is a book that I will purchase for myself, just to have the masa recipes, some of the offal recipes and dessert recipes.

Cheryl Richardson's "Take Time For Your Life" is a 7-step coaching book about living a more productive and fulfilling life. And, who wouldn't want that?? The entire basis that most people are enormously busy, stressed and cut off from "real life" is right on, and it doesn't make you feel like you're on your own. She recognizes that people have lives, busy lives but the focus of calming down, taking time, realizing what's really important and making a real plan for yourself can really help you be a happier and more fulfilled person.I'm not one for "mushy" feel-good books, but I certainly could see the merits in this book. She has practical ideas, steps and ideas for making your life a bit better. Listen, these kinds of books aren't going to "CHANGE" the world, but they might make you less anxious, worried and stressed. And, I certainly think that's a positive thing. Try it...it might help.

Learning how to take time for yourself is a hard thing to do when you are always taking care of other. But this book has given me insight into taking care of myself and taking care of others. Its alright to put yourself first. What a great feeling.

If you need self help, get it right here. I bought for someone else who is a touchy feely person. Really, it wasn't for me.

I recently had a friend die from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS); coincidentally I received this book as a Christmas gift around the same time. I had seen "Tuesdays With Morrie" in the bookstore, but knew nothing about it and wasn't inclined to investigate further. That was my mistake. This is one of the best books that I have recently read, and is perhaps the best I have ever read that deals so directly with the specter of death.Mitch Albom always regarded Morrie Schwartz, his favorite college professor, as a mentor and inspiration. Despite pledging to stay in touch with his professor after school, he didn't until he heard that Morrie was suffering from ALS. After reconnecting with Schwartz, Mitch began flying to meet with him every Tuesday until Morrie died. This book is an account of that interaction, and the progression of the disease. More than that, though, it's an account of the lessons that Morrie taught Mitch, as much by the way he lived as by the things he said. These lessons form the themes of this book, and they are well worth the introspection that's bound to follow in any thoughtful person after reading this.Mitch and Morrie conceived the book together, but, of course, Morrie couldn't see the final product. Fortunately this book is here for all of us to examine and learn from. This is a book that is quick to read, but takes some time to fully digest: I recommend it highly to anyone and everyone, and especially to those with critical illnesses among their friends or families.While this might seem a depressing book, I actually found it to be quite the opposite. Morrie Schwartz taught Mitch how to live and die with grace, poise, and dignity; thankfully Mitch put this story on paper and used the advance money to pay Morrie's astronomical medical bills. Tuesdays with Morrie In “Tuesdays With Morrie,” Morrie was a teacher that had an endless amount of love for his job. He made connections with many of his students, and saw many of them as his friends. He and his student, Mitch, had become extremely close with one another. Years passed by and Mitch graduated, unfortunately losing touch with his beloved teacher. While he is living his own live, Morrie has entered a life long struggle. He has been “diagnosed with ALS, and not given very long to live” (Albom, 46). The moment Mitch gets word of this, he knows that he needs to meet with him and catch up before it’s too late. The two decide to meet every Tuesday. During these gatherings, Morrie teaches Mitch lessons that he could not possibly receive from anyone else. He tells him of his entire life, along with his mistakes, and his new found discoveries. His words change Mitch and all of his previous beliefs. This teacher has given his student the greatest gift of all, the gift of wisdom. I loved this book even more than I thought I would. The lessons are so raw and completely valuable to anyone who reads. Your perspective on life will be altered after reading this inspirational story. The love between these two people is so beautiful and deep-rooted. They were not even family, yet they were closer than many fathers and sons will ever be. They shared an unbreakable bond that strengthened throughout the journey of Morrie’s illness. I highly recommend this read to everyone who wants to learn a few lessons regarding life as a whole. When Mitch goes back to see his old professor, who has a limited time left due to a disease that has taken over his life, they recall life lessons from Morrie. Filled with advice for all ages, Tuesdays with Morrie is a short book that everyone should find the time to read. Whether you’re looking for a quick read or a meaningful book, Tuesdays with Morrie is guaranteed to leave you satisfied with a new outlook on life. After hearing news of Morrie’s impending death, Mitch takes a break from being a workaholic and goes back to visit his professor. Mitch becomes a developed character after listening and comprehending Morrie’s “last class”. Morrie tells various stories and outlooks on life which leave the reader looking for more advice and insight; for example, one of my favorite quotes from the book reads “Death ends a life, not a relationship”. This is truly a book which discusses the meaning of life, the priorities of life, and the perspectives of life. While this book can be a bit sad, as it discusses death and such, I still recommend this to those mature enough. However, do not be surprised if you become attached to the character Morrie and find yourself upset as you read about what he goes through on a daily basis with his disease. Besides that, Tuesdays with Morrie is a book that all people should read and enjoy. Find time to sit down, to enjoy, and to reflect on Morrie’s pure advice on life.

I read this book when it was first released several years ago and have long considered it a "how to" book when it comes to dealing with real things in real life. I bought three copies; one for myself since my original copy was absconded during a divorce (don't feel sorry for me, the divorce ended up being a good thing), and one for each of two people who I know and love who are going through some "stuff" right now. I wanted to help them see the big lessons in little things, and that in the end, as Morrie said "Love wins. Love always wins."I cannot recommend this book more highly. For anyone, anywhere, traveling this road of life.
