I'll admit it, I was not willing to commit the time to read all 2000 or so pages (or whatever it is) of the entire Urantia Book. Still, I was curious to know a little about it.I read excerpts and commentary complied/written by Elstrott in The Fifth Revelation (which I do recommend), but I wanted more. I thought that this book, The Center Within, would be like that, but unfortunately it was not so.The Center Within appears to be a collection of "channeled" (not sure what else to call them) messages that are said to be related to the Urantia teachings. There are quotes from the Urantia book after each message on a similar point, presumably selected by the editors.I realize that the Urantia Book itself may have a similar "channeled" origin (again using this terminology for lack of better), but this makes "double channeling" I guess and a bit much for me.In fairness, the messages are not bad, although a little repetitive and preachy at times. I did find some to be quite inspirational, but overall this book was just not I was looking for when I got it.
For those who feel the 2,097 page tome, called The Urantia Book, is too much to handle all at once, I highly recommend :The Center Within" as a heart-based way to feel God's love through the UB. Short paragraphs followed by quotations or sections of the UBook seem to be just the ticket for busy Urantians who can only manage small bites of Truth to absorb and practice daily. Patience is required reading the Big Blue Book, but having an intro book lights the fires of a spiritual seeker.
This book is a great inspiration for daily thoughts with Urantia quotes at the bottom. A highly inspired book for reading. I highly recomend I purchased several for my truth seeking friends.
I had expected a more traditional book-style text, explaining some of the principles of the Urantia book in easy language. Instead, it was in the form of short 1-2 page essays. Each one was accompanied by a matching excerpt from the Urantia book. Even though it wasn't what I expected, I enjoyed it. The channelled messages do give additional insights and advice for daily living. I'm marking it down a bit because about 30 pages were out of order. I had considered sending it back, but the postage would not have been all covered by Amazon, plus, I thought chances were good I would get another misprinted copy. I'll keep it around to refer to from time to time whenever I need a dose of inspiration.
Good insights into the UB revelations and it cleared up some ambiguities for me.Good "exercise" program,dive in, find your wondrous being!Blessings to all
This book changed my life, it really brings out the message of the Urantia book & got me into short daily meditation with my thought adjuster
