Received the product on time. Reviewed the book completely last night and the recipes are good but not enough really old fashion recipes for my liking. Many recipes seem to be relatively common. I was looking for "old farm" type recipes. Will keep the book and add it to my collection.

This is a lovey book for using it as a gift and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Ms Cohen is writing a book for a very specific audience. There are lots of asides like "I know, can you believe it?" with regards to names of chemicals, etc which are totally understandable, but there are so many that it feels grating and as though I was being talked down to. As though she assumed none of her readers could ever understand the higher level things she was talking about. I do like it when scientific literature is made accessible to the masses. But many times it felt like she was talking to elementary school students instead of a book intended for adults - the kinds of asides I would give my little kids to help keep them involved when I'm talking about concepts way above their heads. (like explaining psych disorders which affect them or their classmates)Worse, though, was the way I felt like I couldn't trust the author to put helping her readers and just selling a book doing so as her only benefit from the book. She talks so much about "her dear friend"s who just happen to sell a product that she recommends in her book, and wouldn't you know it, because they're such good friends she even has a coupon code for you. I might buy that one. When it keeps happening? And when the author presents her conflict of interest serving on the board or some other affiliation of a vitamin she's recommending as a GOOD thing (without explicitly acknowledging it is a conflict of interest) along with a coupon code? Yeah, I start to feel like I'm getting taken for a ride. Also there are some recommendations of supplements that have been deemed unsafe without mentioning the importance of at least finding a trustworthy provider, because if the particular supplement is made improperly it can physically harm you.Don't get me wrong. There are many true, good facts about migraines in this book. There are just a lot of things that feel like scams to benefit her or at least her "friends", moments where she asks you to just take her word for things that should really have a lot of evidence before you say (like when she says no vitamin D), etc mixed in with those facts.So if you want to get help for your migraines and don't want to worry about if you're getting taken advantage of or at the very least getting talked down to - try another book. I really have learned a LOT from Heal Your Headaches, and The Migraine Brain. I actually really didn't find much covered in this book (that's not selling a product) that those books didn't cover. In fact, the other two books cover many areas this book does not. Supplements, natural changes to your lifestyle, diet, they're all in those books. If you're interested in the hormone side of things you could also read The Woman's Guide to Migraine. Following their advice, not Ms Cohen's, has massively helped me. In short, get a different book and don't waste your money on this one.

This is a phenomenal book for anyone suffering from headaches. I'm a practicing Chiropractor who also deals with nutrition. I also have suffered from severe migraines since the age of 16 and, more recently from cluster headaches. I've tried a lot of different things that have all had varying levels of success. After reading this book I tried a simple combination of certain nutrients and eliminated one thing from my diet for a period of a month and was amazed. In 4 months since this time I've had 1 headache and no more clusters. I'm very impressed. There's no such thing as a miracle cure but this book has been a very big help.What most people don't appreciate is that conditions take time to develop and, in like manner, take time to heal. Your body is in a constant state of adaptation to the world and to the external and internal environment it encounters. Sometimes the proper adaptation meant to help and sustain our life brings about changes in the body that are undesirable in the long term. A fever is a perfect example. Headaches are similar and to really get to the root cause you must adapt lifestyle changes and allow time for the healing, This book was helpful in identifying some key things to address with each type of headache.I highly recommend this book and will also be recommending to my patients as well.

This book was AMAZING! Insightful, intelligent, forward thinking, concise. It has everything you need to remedy your headache pain. I love that she provides both a technical area (cytokines, etc.) as well as a layman's guide - Suzy's script for.... and then clearly spells out next steps. She also has a terrific writing style so you feel like you're having a medical chat over a cup of tea (or coffee!). Would definitely and probably will buy more for people I know that struggle with headaches.

This is the most complete headache book I have seen. As a lifelong migraine sufferer I found this book to be so helpful. It seems that causes and effective treatments vary by patient. It is always good to get a complete guide so you might finally find the right cure. Avoiding the worst food triggers, or dehydration seems to be the best attack in my situation.

It starts slow but well worth the read. Applicable story-telling and classic Alan Watts teachings interwoven together.This belongs as part of the Alan Watts book collection - it is not a separate exception. Tear jerking ending.

This is one of my all time favorite autobiographies. I first read it when it came out in 1972. I had read all of Alan Watt's books, belonged to his Society of Comparative Philosophy and even spoke with him a couple times on the phone. The book really conveys the complex person that he was. As he says in the book: "I don't know whether I am boasting or confessing." It is refreshing to read an autobiography written with manyl blemishes exposed. I recommend this work if only for the historical value of the movement of Eastern philosophy into the West and a testimony of the 60's counter-culture and the fact that it is a highly enjoyable read to anyone interested in the life of this interesting man.

Awesome insight into Alan watch personally.

I read it a few years ago and have just reread it. The thing that strikes me now --after having gone through a big spiritual inner migration, including becoming a Born-Again Christian, myself-- is Watts falling away from the Episcopal Church. Wonder what his sentiments would be today? Also, his account of increased awareness in metaphysics and burgeoning use of psychedelic drugs in the early to mid 1960s makes me wistful. Still a good read.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. Absolutely loved it! It was exactly what I needed, very inspiring. I've also gotten some amazing references from it, which I have also now ordered on Amazon. Must read!

I am more and more impressed with every read from Watts. Brilliant mind that I always enjoy getting a small but extremely pleasant glimpse into.

So many laughs and equal amounts of learnings and perspectives. Poetic in his view with his classic wit and cheekiness whilst impeccably polite.

Alan Watts was a contemporary of Timothy Leary but to my mind a much more interesting individual. His immersion and exploration of Christianity, Hinduism and Zen Buddhism plus many more "isms" coupled with a comprehensive command of the English language and a master story teller to boot makes him a very good read for anyone interested in the study of self and reality. "In My Own Way" takes the reader through Alan's life, philosophyl and spiritual explorations and experiences from his early childhood to his eventual move to California where he was witness to the emergence of the 60's Hippy Culture. A most interesting and engaging read for anyone interested in the subject and period.

Well, after it was made available to purchase in the US, I immediately bought it and read it over the weekend. I do really like the story and look forward to reading more.The big issue I have with this story is all the repetitive explanations of different aspects of the VRMMO that the characters are playing in. I understand feeling the need to explain some things for new readers who did not read the first two books (btw, if you haven't read the first two books you're going to be confused about a lot of things in this book. Go read them first, you won't regret it ;-P ) but in some sections of the book the author explained the same thing multiple times in the same in the same paragraphs/pages. It got to the point in a couple spots I started wondering if this was being done simply to increase page size of the book.That and the need for some third party proof-reading to catch minor spelling and grammatical errors. Other than that it's a really good story.

This book was obviously written by someone from China; the names, customs, culture, emphasis on rank or position of influence, the way of speaking, the use of full names every time they are used and many other things stand out glaringly as being from a foreign culture. The translation to English is poor in quality and seems to be done by someone who speaks Chinese as a first language and English as a poor second, requiring you the reader to fill in missing words and substitute more appropriate words and phrasing to help it make sense. There is a very narrow range of idioms, unusual over the top adjectives, inappropriate metaphors, and laughable jargon that leaves the reader feeling like he is wading through a poorly translated user manual for a Chinese electronics product. The author seldom uses a sentence where he can put in a paragraph or two to say the same thing. The book is very short covering too small a period of time, I assume so he can sell more books. That said, if you can get past the ridiculous presentation, the story is really quite entertaining, unique and well worth the effort; it kept me coming back in anticipation for the next book in the series.

Wow I loved this book . Got it at 09:00 this morning and finished it at 14:00. Couldn't put it down. It grabbed me and held me like a dog with a nice meaty bone.While there are a couple of translation issues, in no way do the detract from the story. The story is fast paced but well interspersed with information about gear, abilities, levelling etc.It is nice to read a story from a different culture and shows, how differently their outlook is on gaming.On the whole can't wait for the next in the series.

Sweet book I like how Shi Feng isn't even really trying to oppose people he's just doing his own thing all the while hes pulling in enemies left and right hes destroying them only in passing. He only ever takes time out of his day to deal with his enemies if they bother his people, then he will waste an entire guild. Hes a little too OP but I guess that's just part of the story, he needs a better enemy though. Someone who can actually challenge him and actually has a brain in their head.

Another great story. Feng is starting to get into his own. People are starting to recognize him as the expert he is. However, that is not always a good thing. The fued with Martial Union is really starting to heat. We are going to have to wait and see. I not sure but I am pretty sure I am now caught up with I read of the original translations.

The author is obviously not a native English speaker with that in mind the grammar and sentence structure makes more sense. Otherwise this book was a good continuation of the series and I look forward to the next one. 1 other item the hero always surpasses huge hurtles and never loses.

awesomeness continues. so much happens once again but it felt like a bink of the eye that ended to soon. new character both good and bad have arrived and constant battles and new items and places! i need the next book.thank you gravity tales for translating this!

This was my first ever translation book read and wow it outdid what I believed it would be. I hope to see more of them keep coming it is a wonderful story and fun read. I will be keeping an eye out for the next one in the series

Last August, our congregation and I began studying the second book of the Torah together...the fascinating book of Exodus. I have always had a deep love for the Old Testament, and have lamented the fact that Christians by and large are ignorant of it’s content, focusing at times almost exclusively on the New Testament. When I heard that Dennis Prager was writing a commentary on the Torah starting with Exodus, my ears perked up. I bought the book the day it came it. I have read the first half (which brings me up to where we are studying in our Wednesday night Bible study) and intend to finish it as we continue studying Exodus. But why would a Christian pastor buy a Jewish commentary and recommend other Christians read it?Here are two reasons:1. Dennis has devoted over fifty years of his life to the study and teaching of the Torah. He speaks Hebrew as well as he speaks English (which is very well, I might add!), and has immersed himself in the Hebrew of the Bible – both its grammar and its vocabulary. As one who doesn’t have that linguistic background, I appreciate his willingness to share this skill with others like myself.2. We are living in an age of unprecedented dialogue between Jews and Christians like none other in history. For me to participate in this God-honoring dialogue, I need to understand where my Jewish brothers and sisters are coming from. In addition, I have a great desire to share the good news of the gospel as found in the New Testament with my Jewish neighbors, as do millions of others Christians. Yet, how can I share my perspective with them if I don’t understand and respect their perspective?Here are excerpts from my review of this book on my blog (which you can find at waynenalljr.blogspot.com):This book is like no commentary I have ever read...and I have read from many of them. It is not stuffy at all. Dennis chose to write it in the first person and to include personal anecdotes where appropriate. What other commentary would quote Maimonides, Abraham Lincoln,...and Woody Allen?...Here are a few quotes from this book which caught my attention:...The central message of the Torah is “that God is good and demands we be good...is the only belief that will enable us to make a good world.”...“People (today) greatly value knowledge and intelligence, but not wisdom. And the lack of wisdom—-certainly in America and the rest of the West – is directly related to the decline in biblical literacy. In the American past, virtually every home, no matter how poor, owned a Bible. It was the primary vehicle by which parents passed wisdom on to their children.”...“The Torah is so different – morally, theologically, and in terms of wisdom – from anything else preceding it and, for that matter, from anything written since, that a reasonable person would have to conclude either moral supermen or God was responsible for it.” (I would put the entire Bible in this category, including the New Testament.)...“Another major reason I am convinced the Torah is not man-made is it so often depicts the people of the Book, the Jews, in a negative light....“Remembering – the good others have done, the evil others have done, and one’s moral obligations – is an indispensable aspect of a good and meaningful life.”...“Biology is not destiny; you can be the child of an evil person and be a good person.”...“Gratitude takes effort; resentment is effortless.” (So true!)I believe there is great value to this work for anyone who is seeking wisdom...whatever your religious background!

In my twenties, when I knew everything, was a hardcore liberal and a self proclaimed atheist (having been born and raised a Catholic), Sean Hannity brought me to conservatism. In my 30’s, I was too bogged down with my first marriage, getting a house, having a child, going through a divorce, and rebuilding my life to care much about anything else. In my 40’s, in addition to finding my loving wife, I found Dennis Prager. Mr. Prager is not a “firebrand conservative” who wants to get you all excited so that you may go out and shout others down. He is a calm, rational thinker. His mind is his weapon, his intellect is his tool, and his demeanor makes it difficult for a reasonable person to simply dismiss him, let alone dislike him. He utterly changed my debating style from “hard hitting, in your face” to “here are my facts, what do you have to say, let’s discuss it”. He is the epitome of the old saying, “you get more flies with honey than you do vinegar”.I had every intention of purchasing this book. In fact, I preordered it. I read the first chapter when he sent it to his fans, and I loved it. I purchased the kindle version for myself, and a hardcover copy for the Reverend of my church. When I saw how nice the book looked, I decided to purchase a hardcover copy for myself to proudly display in my home bookcase of “chosen books”. I have since purchased an additional copy for my best friend. I’ll likely purchase a copy for any of my family and friends who express interest in reading it. It is that profound.I attended a private Catholic school from grades 1 through 8, and I then went to a private Catholic school through high school. Simply put, I learned more from this book about Exodus than I did from all those years in school. Mr. Prager is a brilliant man, who has debated at Oxford University on several occasions. He has been studying the Bible for decades, and his wealth of knowledge is evident in the book. He goes line by line through Exodus, and offers his explaination in layman’s terms. I believe what makes this book invaluable is, Mr. Prager is not trying to convert anyone to any specific religion. One does not feel that buried within his commentary is a certain degree of political correctness out of fear of offense. His only desire is to explain the book of Exodus to you. To, as the title says, explain just how rational the Bible is, when you know it in it’s full context. I have learned so much. To say that this book has strengthened my faith is a gross understatement. Simply put, I wish he would offer his insight on the entire Bible, both Old and New Testament!In closing, who can benefit from this book? Certainly any practicing Jew or Christian. Absolutely any Jew or Christian who is struggling with their faith. Any agnostic who is truly only uncertain becasuse he/she has not read anything compelling enough for him/her to say, “I can believe that”. An atheist who is open to debate, and would like to hear a fair, learned man’s point of view. Finally, anyone would like to read something that can only be described as an excellent perspective on a section of a book over 2000 years and why it’s still a great, if not THE BEST, source of wisdom for human behavior.Bravo Mr. Prager. As a religious observant Jew I find this book vastly expansive onto a deeper explanation from a wide variety of perspectives. Mr. Prager takes deep care to ensure the reader has proper background and knowledge into the topics which were discussed in the other books while still focusing on the text of the Bible.

I listened to all Prager's audio tapes of his 18-year course on Verse-by-Verse of the Torah. This volume on Exodus reflects on his previous teaching and also has many new thoughts. The volume is easy to use and one can choose a topic and go right to it without having to read it straight through. I can't wait for all the other volumes!

This morning I've been checking out a sample version of this out on Kindle. It's an extremely user-friendly yet thorough commentary on the book of Exodus - and, as usual, Dennis Prager doesn't disappoint. Absolutely superb from what I've read thus far. Can't wait to get the full paper volumes, especially whenever the book of Deuteronomy is released. The other day I heard Prager say that this proposed five-volume set of commentaries on the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament) represents the work of his life - his magnum opus.

After struggling with several how to do it books on EXCEL, I finally found EXCEL Basics in 30 minutes. What a relief Ian Lamont writes in language that beginners can understand and he is well organized and knows what beginners really need to learn first. He doesn't overload the book with complications that merely distract from learning and tend to bore the beginner. This is not to say that the subject is easy, just that he really appreciates what a struggle it is for a newcomer to spreadsheet programs to grasp the basic concepts. The "30 minute" bit, is laughable; I have spent 30 minutes on each chapter and then had to review it, to be sure I had it right. But the effort was worth it. The index and glossary alone are a big help in getting started! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is in small print. I used a magnifying glass to read it and wish that it was available in computer format so I could magnify it on the screen. When I have finished it, I hope to go to some of the other books on the subject and be able to understand what they are talking about.

It is O.K. for beginners with no experience in Excel.

Purchasing the Kindle version of this book was my mistake. A hard copy of a reference book is much easier to read.

This book is good for someone who knows nothing, but it really doesnt have as much as I expected it to have in it. A bit dissappointed. but if you are a total beginner it is a great book.

Analytics is something that I find a bit daunting. I work for a B2B company and I'm trying to learn all I can about Analytics and have had a Google set up for awhile. The book is good for covering definitions and explaining in detail what things are and why you use them, but I found the book a bit annoying. I wish the book would talk about things by topic and then explain how to do it. For instance, I wanted to set up an event for when a PDF is clicked (as we have 1000's of them on our site) but the book just explained what the event feature was, told me that I needed to add some code, but then offered nothing on how to do that except "we'll cover this later". I found that kind of stuff throughout the book, so eventually, I guess I'll get to it, right? lol.The book does a good job of explaining but I found some of it the explanations unnecessary since I'm not a total newb. But for a person who has zero experience using analytics programs, you'll find a lot of explaining in the book. It also covers other tools besides Google's which I found helpful as some of them I never heard of before.Although I wasn't happy with the way things were presented, the book is helpful. I learned some new things that I want to try and will incorporate those into my work goals. I'm 3/4th of the way through the book and still don't know how to add an event. LOL. I'll update this review if I end up changing my mind, but it frustrates me that the book is laid out this way. Chapter 2 says "Getting set up" yet doesn't offer much information on how to actually set up things like events and the ones they do cover, are covered minimally. I think if they update this book, they should consider being a little more thorough in the "how" to do things instead of just explaining words and definitions.

Sitepoint is one of my favorite publishers, and I always expect to find a well-designed, expert exposition of information in their books. This one does not disappoint. It gives a clear and practical explanation of how to use web analytics to understand user experience.The book begins with an overview of the value of analytics for UX and a look at some important analytics tools. Most of the book is about using Google Analytics, which works for me because that's the main tool I use. There's a discussion of how to get and give access to GA, and an excellent checklist that helps you make sure that GA is configured properly so the data is being collected accurately.Next is an introduction to analyzing GA data, followed by insights into the places in the data where you're likely to find user experience issues. The list includes specific pages, user journeys, goal funnels, in-page interactions, internal search, and devices/browsers. Many experienced GA users will find new ideas in this section.Next is a discussion of the ways Google Analytics and, to a lesser extent, other tools can give you an understanding of the people who visit your website. This is followed by a brisk discussion of A/B and multivariant testing plus some ideas on useful reporting of the data you find.This book is clearly written with relatively little jargon, but it does presuppose some technical background. If you're comfortable with your computer and new to Google Analytics, this is a good resource. If you already use GA, you'll probably get more from the book than the absolute neophyte. If you're a UX professional, this is the analytics book you need.

This is one of a number of new books on UX from Australia. They have a unique approach to book structure, that I’m not sure I like. Their table of contents is extensive: 6 pages for a 162 page book. Essentially it maps out all the main categories of information. But, and this is a big one for me, they have no index. For me that works while I’m reading the book, but months later when an idea from what I read hits, I like an index to get me back to the exact section, I may have seen. This book forces me to consider the context of the book, recreating it mentally and then hit and miss, finding the reference that I wanted. So essentially this book is set up more as an instructional book than a later reference.The contents of the book is good, the chapters logical and informative. Mostly it is a handbook of how to use Google Analytics on your website, or mobile app for UX purposes. It does not cover other Analytics programs, but lists a few. I know not all as I did not one that I was familiar with listed here. Since this is referencing a particular type of software, this book has a shelf life. LIke all software Google Analytics changes from time to time, as well as the other softwares out there for analytics. Also since this book is based in Australia, it may affect the list of other analytic packages. As the company I work with has a unique product/method of using Google Analytics, not all of the points were valid. Also when I was following side by side looking at the app itself, some of the main sections were set up a bit different. I don’t have control of this setup (Few UX people will), so not everything was the same.Overall the book is a good tool. I will try to use it as reference (remembering my issue with the lack of index) when I work with the person that manages the Analytic set up and endeavor to see how well I can get the Analytics to help me with my UX work.
