I have Zimmerman's other MC Repair book, which I found very useful -- and when I had a question, I contacted him by e-mail as he invites readers to do, and he responded with great advice, and followed-up to see how the advice worked! I bought this book because I'd seen it and liked it's all around coverage of restoring older MC's. Since I usually buy used, I'm often in some limited restoratioin mode, and this book will prove very useful.

If you have very little common sense, or fall to tears when you think of organizing a garage, then this book is for you. Get a chiltons or hayes for your bike, put your tools where you want them.The author does give a good reality check on the prospects of profitability of restoring bikes (hint- there is none)but if you've got a passion, you will anyway.

About 5 years ago I purchased a basket case 1982 Yamaha XZ550 Vision [...]. I had never restored a motorcycle before and the last time I had worked on one was over 25 years ago and that was a 2 cycle dirt bike.With Haynes manual in hand, along with this book, I set out on my restoration and boy did it come in handy. Many of the tips, especially for finishing and polishing old aluminum were very helpful.Its a must read for anyone setting out on a restoration of an old motorcycle. While it is not model specific, its still very helpful but searching Amazon for the proper Haynes manual is also helpful as well.I've posted a blog about my restoration at: [...] if you want to see some of the before, during and after pictures.David

Mark's one of my favorite motorcycle tech writers. He explains things in a manner that is easy to follow, yet complete and correct. He's been there, done that, and you can trust his experience.

Love this book! It's like a bible to me.

This historical fiction story tells about Essie, a young black girl in Savannah, in the 1870s and 1880s. Essie's mother is a prostitute who came to Savannah on Sherman's March to the Sea. The first few chapters tell about Essie's childhood being hidden in closets when her "uncles" came to call.Essie was befriended by a cleaning woman who convinced her mother to send her to school. While she learned to read, she eventually left because of bullying by those who looked down on her because of her mother's profession. She relied on the cleaning woman - Ma Clara - for emotional support and to learn to take care of herself. She depended on books she found at a second hand store to continue her education.When she was fourteen, she found a job at a boarding house and fell out with her mother. She was given the opportunity by a visitor to the boarding house to change her life. Dorcas Vashon offered to give her a new life if she was willing to leave her past behind. Because she wanted to better herself and find a purpose in life, she took the offer. Part of her new life involved a new name and, at sixteen, she became Victoria.The story details all the things she had to learn and the books she read while learning to become a member of Washington, D.C.'s elite black society. She really did change her life as she learned those things. The lists of the books she read was daunting. She needed to learn how to fit into a society the paid attention to art, fashion, and etiquette. She got so involved that she almost lost her original purpose of making things better for her people.It was realistic, but disappointing, that she needed to find a husband to realize her dreams. It was also difficult to know that this was the period before the rise of the Jim Crow laws when the small gains earned by blacks after the Civil War were going to be wiped out. I would be curious for the author to write more about Essie's (Victoria's) life.

Brought back vague memories of being taught about a black middle and elite class, long ago. I regret I know little about this time, and this makes the book important.It is easy to read, although it has tough concepts: the daughter of a madam escapes to the home of a rich person. But it is really an escape? Or just trading one problem for another?The superficial characters were mostly pleasing to me, as I could fill in who they really were. But then, the cheap way out is taken: a large sized character is described, and described in unflattering terms, and says something the main character doesn't like. Cuz that's what large people DO, don't cha know.The biggest areas of growth are in the main character and in her mother, which is a neat trick to pull off considering she doesn't make it to the end of the book.Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Keckley, and other greats of black history make important but tiny entrances. We never find out what motivates Victoria's savior, but I'm OK with that.This will be a good historical fiction choice for my reluctant readers, and it has a happy ending, which is also a plus for that demographic.

I wanted to love this one, I really truly did. It gave me upper-class post-slavery, moving on up vibes--while it delivered that, in a languid pace--it left me wanting.I'm just going to start right off when the things I didn't like. The story itself seemed on a path to something that by the end it didn't quite meet. It was aimless and plot-less if I can say so.The writing itself is magnificent--engaging and truly believable for the time it was set in. From the dress and the language, it read like a Langston Hughes--Harlem Renaissance era novel. But as far as the intentions and the direction, it was a little muddled.What I did enjoy however was the rags-to-riches side of the story. The main character did not allow a less than stellar upbringing deter her from creating the life she felt she deserved--and I am all for a heroine pulling herself up by the bootstraps and going for it.I also rather enjoyed the look into post-slavery. It felt very realistic--and was easy to follow. The colorism and the ever-present distaste for black people, in general, was fitting for the time it was written in and was all too real for right now.This author clearly has something. Her writing is on point but the story itself though again beautifully written was lacking a certain something to take it over. I'm definitely open to more--but there's more to be said here.

I absolutely loved this book. I have read many stories detailing the horrors Jews faced throughout Europe before, during, and after World War II....and expected this story to be similar. It was different...I connected with it far more that other stories of the same genre. Perhaps knowing it was based on the author's family made it all the more moving. It is a book that I finished a few weeks ago, but cannot stop talking about to friends and family. It is a story that has stayed with me. I highly recommend!

It also makes me thing of my ancestors. What they went through to make it this far. Would I ever write about my family's history? No. I don't have the patience. We cannot deny the painful part of our prior history. We need to learn from it and do better as each generation passes. I cried, I honestly did. It made my stomach churn and drop. But this is a book about sacrifice and love. I know as a mother, I would do anything to save my children. But this family is simply remarkable. Yeah, maybe some parts were dramatized but Mrs. Hunter took me there. I could imagine the horrors her family went through. If this book doesn't make you feel something, I don't know what else to tell you. I plan on buying this book on hardcover and it will remain a treasure for the rest of my life. I would normally avoid a book written about this dark period of history. But I absolutely loved We Were The Lucky Ones. Beautifully written and fast paced. Each chapter is filled with hope and the amazing strength of spirit of each character. I finished it last night and I found myself thinking about the Kurc family several times today. Terrific read!!

Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention up front, but when I embarked upon this book I was expecting to read a story that would have fallen into the genre of “historical fiction,” i.e. a fictional account of a fictional family told against the backdrop of the all-too-real canvas of World War II. What I got instead was the astounding, near unbelievable, TRUE account of a Polish-Jewish family’s miraculous survival during this darkest time in human history. It is not until the epilogue/“Author’s Note” that we learn that the author’s Grandfather was in fact one of the main characters in her remarkable story.The author acknowledges that her family elders, quite understandably so, were not eager to discuss the horrors of their past. Given the sparsity of details that were handed down to her, I imagine that a good amount of this epic tale can be chalked up to poetic license, so to speak, and that the writing of this tome entailed a good deal of “fleshing out” of a very skeletal handed-down (and oftentimes not first-hand) account. Nevertheless, the essence of this tale is true, and nothing short of miraculous, awe-inspiring and, indeed, life-affirming.The protagonists here are Sol and Nechuma Kurc, their five young-adult children and their respective spouses. The story unfolds all over the far-flung corners of the globe during and after the Second World War: Poland, France, Siberia, Palestine, Argentina and, lastly, the United States. (Keeping track of the many main characters may have been a bit unwieldy, but the author handily provides a family tree at the book’s beginning, which I found myself consulting time after time.)The aspects of this story that moved me most deeply were:First, one cannot read this book without being struck by the perseverance and determination of the family members to provide for one another and simply to survive at the most elemental level during times of starvation, extreme weather, persecution and all the other privations of war-torn Europe. To say that We Were the Lucky Ones is a testament to the human spirit is to state the obvious.Second, the love this family held for one another and the cohesiveness of the family unit – especially when all else was lost – was something that really touched me. There is a not-so-very subtle message here about what matters most in life. The instances of self-sacrifice (Halina for her parents and Mila for her daughter, to name just a couple) are particularly noteworthy.Third, the family, having immigrated to the Unites States immediately post-war, made the utmost of their lives here, all going on to become successful in their chosen spheres. It strikes me that, as clichéd as it may sound, America is truly the land of opportunity for those who are willing to make it happen. As an American whose own Grandparents came here from Europe, I have to say that the author’s choice to bring this out brought a lump to my throat.I don’t know if it’s even possible to describe a Holocaust story as having a happy ending, but if it is at all possible – considering the devastating losses to the world and to humanity at large - this family’s story had one. In fact, the book lightly touches upon the concept of survivor’s guilt: Toward the end of the book one of the characters muses about how none of them should have survived, and yet (against the odds) all of them did. They were the lucky ones….A word about the unspeakably brave souls who harbored the hunted: people like Halina’s boss who was willing to vouch for her (on more than one occasion), or like the peasant family who hid Sol and Nachuma behind a false wall in their home, or the Mother Superior who ran an orphanage and who was willing to accept the falsehood that little Felicia was “Aryan” in order to spare her life. To paraphrase a sentiment of Anne Frank’s: despite everything, there truly are good people in this world. In a world gone mad, these courageous individuals are true heroes.The sanctity of life and the belief that life is something worth fighting for are not new concepts to Holocaust literature. This book ranks right up there with the best in the lessons it has to impart.All in all, edge-of-your-seat story-telling, with an extremely poignant ending. Definitely recommended.

This is a great book with very interesting information and an engaging reading style regarding the author's personal journey and insights. However, when I put the book down and come back to it again at a later time I find it hard to reintegrate back into the story line. I usually go back a few pages to review and then start again. This is not an easy read by any means but it is an absorbing account of the author's spiritual process and self-discovery. I find it easier as an Audio book to really pay attention to his detailed accounts of Mystical Awakening....I'm happy to have it in my library as a reference book and timely piece of literature. I Honor the author and Honor also the higher level of writing style that can easily be lost in today's marketing of fast paced quick on-the-go pace so many people chase. It takes time to feel and explore the precious insights the author offers, like taking a stroll through a botanical garden. Each flower, tree and blade of grass needs to be respected and Breathed In to fully appreciate its innate beauty and holistic authenticity for humanity to achieve Oneness with Nature, our greatest silent Teacher............Thank you.

An absolutely enlightening masterpiece from a true mystical genius! Well formatted, value priced and virtually impossible to put down - Do not pass up this illuminating work. You will absolutely be better off for reading this! I Highly recommend this to all seekers, old and new, no matter where on the path you may be!

I bought this as a Kindle book out of curiosity. It was surprising at first as I didn't expect to find so many references to Christianity. But then I had never read anything on symbolism and alchemy before. At times it appears to be some mysterious recipe for something (with a pinch of this and a wink-wink of that), and at others it just seems to randomly swirl around with no apparent point to it at all. We are told in the introduction that, if it appears to not make any sense -it is because we have not been "chosen"; I must not have been chosen. I believe you will get much more from Emerson's "Gnothi Seauton" if you are looking for enlightenment. I give it one star for the attempt at explaining why the creation of evil was necessary and inevitable in order for goodness to appear as goodness.

This book is really not for everyone. The wording the author used to describe universal truths is very complicated; it could had been said so much simpler. I love the fact that the author connects chemistry, astrology and spirituality into one whole, which reveals never-changing laws of the universe, and universal cycles.

Makes me want to do more research into the planets and their relationship to the human body, not quite sure about the concept of God being both the good and evil, will have to think on this revelation..

This is a though mystical work which has provided me with a little knowledge of nature. The book has tried to challenge my reasoning to an extern ,but i will continue to ponder till full comprehension.

This book is a great addition to my collection of Boehme's works.It's a little heavy on the Alchemical side and so - to me - not as comprehensible as some of his other works.The book itself is of very good quality with ample spacing between paragraphs and not skimpy - 305 pages.I feel I got what I paid for and so I would recommend this for any one with a Boehme library.

Herbert George Wells (1866 – 1946) was an English author now best known for his science-fiction novels, which include "The Time Machine", "The First Men in the Moon" and "The Invisible Man".American illustrator and writer LOU CAMERON attended the California School of Fine Arts. Stephans, Alexandre Dumas, Emile Zola and Robert Louis Stevenson. He was furthermore a contribor to the mystery titles published by Atlas, including Astonishing Comics, Journey into Mystery, Uncanny Tales and Journey Into Unknown Worlds. He illustrated stories in the same genre for DC titles like House of Mystery, House of Secrets and Tales of the Unexpected, as well as Ace Periodicals' Baffling Mysteries, Web of Mystery and Hand of Fate. He additionally did horror stories for St. John Publishing and romance and western features for Story Comics. In 1951 and 1952 he did a syndicated feature called 'So It Sesms'. This review is for this version of the book not the story. This is the second novel I have ordered through Amazon that is horrible published. The print is EXTREMELY tiny and difficult to read, with tight spacing. Chapters are merely seperated by double spacing and all caps. There is no enjoyment in trying to read such a poorly printed book. Returned!

A classic scifi story, WOTW gets better everytime I read it. I've started reading every 2 years or so at Mars' opposition. That's the best time to view Mars through a telescope. Fortunately, I've never seen any evidence of cannon blasts 😉 I gave the recording four stars because the story is timeless, but this particular recording is not a favorite. The narrator seems to mumble and does not have a lot of expression in the reading. I've not shared this recording with anyone else because I am afraid of boring them with the reading. I guess maybe it's supposed to sound like a stuffy 19th century upper class Englishman. It does but sounds more like someone reading a newspaper out loud rather than someone telling a story. It's ok, but I hope a more lively performance is done someday....

Hard to believe elements of the story were conceived in the 19th century - just a few years after invention of the light bulb. Wells imagines robots, lasers, chemical weapons, indiscriminate warfare, panic human exodus, and wide spread human crisis.

I read the book itself many years ago when i was younger. The book was great, fantastic even, i liked it so much that i read it in one week while in school. The Audio book however is another story altogether. This particular "version" of the legendary story has too many extra details added that instead of adding to the plot in a positive way it makes it boring. I was into it, maybe in the 3rd chapter when i started noticing many little parts that where not in the original story. The audio book is OK, if you like a massive amount of details, if not, stick with the original.

Saw the older movie as a youngster and was scared, but this book provides a great inside view of a man's thoughts as he rapidly transitions from a comfortable, tranquil and idyllic life into a struggle for survival, fearing for life itself let alone food and water, where concealment and hiding are the key's to one more day of life. I love this passage:"...a sense of dethronement, a persuasion that I was no longer the master, but an animal among the animals, under the Martian heel. With us it be as with them, to lurk and watch, to run and hide; the fear and empire of man had passed away."

As usual, the original is always better. This could make a great movie, as is. For the generally informed mind, this and other HGW books are informative as to that time period of science and flight. He always referrs to the science and technology of that day, (1890s), and this is where ones own knowledge is broadened. Although, I'll grant you that the average person is ignorant of past technology. So sad , and like the people of this story. This really would make a great movie, as is.

I grew up with the original black and white movie so I was very familiar with the story when the Tom Cruise version came out later which was also a great update. But knowing these didn't prepare me for hearing the classic tale taking which takes place at the turn of the 20th century/late 19th. Well worth your time.

The story often thrilling is under scored by a genuine fear that over takes the reader of a future that promises nothing when all human efforts is expunged by forces we have no say. Only by the most minute elements of our nature made by the Creator saves us. When all that is lost is suddenly given back do we have the sense of all we over looked in life is now seen differently. War of the Worlds is more than a thrilling story of invasion but rather an insight to ourselves.

In 2013 and 2014, Embrace was listed as one of the fastest growing churches in America according to Outreach Magazine. He was recognized as one of the youngest senior pastors both years. He and his beautiful wife, Becky, have four kids: Hudson, Wilson, Grayson, and Anderson.

This book answers the question all of us ask. And I do mean ALL of us ask. "How Do I Pray?" The reality is even a pastor like myself can get tied up in the "How" and forget about the "Why" and the simplicity that can be found in just talking with God. Adam does a tremendous job of not only unpacking prayer, but does so with a pastor's heart, a normal person's curiosity, and a deep desire to know more himself. You will not finish this book feeling as though Adam sat on a throne above you telling you all that you need to know. Rather you will close the last page feeling like he sat next to you as you both sought to know God in a deeper way. You will walk away refreshed that prayer is possible, talking with God is possible, and it will be something you'll desire to do often.I would recommend this book for any age person as all of us wrestle with the idea of prayer. I also think that it would be fantastic for a Growth Group study to dig deeper into prayer together. I am not an avid book reader, but I simply could not put this book down! Adam has a delightful way with words that is so honest and relatable. I have often gone through struggles with being a Christian and knowing what I should say during prayer, this book shines a whole new light on the subject. I was lucky enough to get to read the first chapter. I knew immediately I needed to read the whole book! Adam write very open, real, and honest. You can tell what he writes is coming from his heart, his love of God. Think about how you pray. Do you pray? Do you just pray at meals or bedtime. Why are you not praying for health, or financial security, or help with relationships? Do you not know how to begin a conversation with God? Then get this book!! Learn how God can be your friend, He wants to be your friend. I am so looking forward to the rest of the book!

This book was so real. It has been such an easy read. Adam Weber is so real in his prayer journey and he makes it so easy to relate to. I had tears flowing in the first chapter knowing how I make it far too hard sometimes to pray. Adam helps you see how easy it is to pray (have a conversation) with God multiple times thru the day to remain close to Him. This book is for EVERYONE! It is great for a new believer who has never been taught how to pray. It's great for someone who is interested in knowing God better. And, it's great for a long time Christian to help them deepen their relationship with God.
