Beautiful floral arrangements, but no advice on the mechanics, and some of the flowers used will last maybe two days in an arrangement so I suspect this was an exercise in creating beautiful arrangements, and they are beautiful, just for this book. Nice to look at once or twice, but not really helpful.

Yes, I am a man! I love flowers in the house! My ex wife ( from Europe, insisted on fresh flowers in the entry every week).I love the color, the style of arrangements and for different occasions.Yes, I still believe in flowers and candles ( real candles) for the dinner table when I have guests.Oh, yea Americans, we have dumbed down ourselves!

He needs to know how to deal with his subjects and how to deal with other rulers without going to war. There should have been an entire chapter on diplomacy and international trade. The alternative to these things is destroying your own principality with perpetual war. Along these lines, after Machiavelli wrote THE PRINCE and before he published it, he wrote a small work entitled “The Life of Castruccio Castracani of Lucca” that illustrated the importance of caution and diplomacy instead of endless conquests. The key was that princes should keep the limitations of their successors in mind when planning military campaigns. After all, princes die young sometimes.Nothing clear is presented about how a prince should deal with his subjects. A prince might need to kill them, but should leave their property and women alone. He should disarm them so they can’t overthrow him. But what if the principality is being invaded and he needs armed subjects to help him fight the invaders? Liberality is the quickest way to be despised by the subjects, but they should be given festivals and spectacles. It’s confusing and I may have missed it, but he provides no historical examples of princes that prevented unrest and those who failed to do so.What’s also confusing is what everyone focuses on when they talk about this book. I'm referring to the morality of the prince. Must he have a moral duty, breaking conventional rules only when they interfere with this duty? Or is it permissible for him to be a beast who only cares about his own pleasure and glory? I’m not sure what this book really says about that.However, THE PRINCE is a valuable early work of political science. The method is pretty good. Ideas are developed from axioms of human nature, then backed up with historical examples. It’s worth reading.2.8 stars

I often heard of this book but never read it and after reading it I am sorry I didn't pick it up sooner. Some people think that the book is cruel and calculating, but I think it is very insightful of how governments take over countries and keep their citizens in line. Some times it means killing the old administration (literally) and other times it means employing citizens in new territories that you are trying to take over. The writing wasn't convoluted at all. It was very clear and well written. This is definitely a book you can read over and over again.

A great thesis worth multiple readings. This collection of essays and letters are one man's fascinating take on politics and war. The only thing which takes away from the overall work are the appendices which try to spoon-feed conclusions as opposed to providing context for the greater work.To be able to read and understand this book correctly, you must be prepared to spend some time understanding the politics and conflicts of the time. That being said, it's the only way to do it and be able to grasp more than surface conclusions. Being able to read and understand the work changed my understanding of not just politics, but also my interactions with different groups both socially and in my work life.

This book does not let up on the suffering and horrors that early Christians went through with Nero’s horrible reign of terror against Christ followers.What makes the book so well written is the overall storyline of Saint Luke in the pits next to Paul while dictating Bible books. Paul has been captured and found guilty and sentenced to death by Nero. His final few days are spent giving scripture, and tales of his Christian journeys, as Luke in the darkness of the dungeon writes out Paul's experiences. Luke takes it upon himself to write for Paul for future generations.You are introduced to wonderful depictions of Christian characters of the Bible such as Priscilla and Aquila. The overall book is something that creates a deeper knowledge of early Christians and their fights and journeys to spread the glorious word of God Christ Jesus.One of my favorite parts of the book was the tender care Luke showed to the ailing Paul.There was a true tenderness and compassion among Christian brothers. I also really loved the telling of Paul's upbringing and his life as he went about persecuting the Christians. One of those stories is of the first Martyr, Stephen which is wonderfully depicted in the book, from his early finding of being a Christian and the horrible murder of his peaceful spiritual soul.If you know me then you know I am a huge History buff (A huge Christian History buff), so mixing true history around a wonderful fiction story is a true treat in my book. This is a brilliant example of how to bring truth out through a fictional story. Equal parts spiritual wonderment, and equal parts informative reality.I have become a huge fan of Angela Hunt’s books that she has wonderfully adapted from Christian movie Screen plays. She has created wonderful books from the screenplays of Risen, The Nativity Story, and this one I am reviewing, Paul, The Apostle of Christ. She is a passionate, strong storyteller that remains within your mind and heart long after the last page. Hunt is truly a gifted writer and a one of kind master of weaving words into a thought provoking read, that entertains and pleases.Paul The Apostle of Christ is a splendid one of kind read. A truly magical, touching and heart wrenching book. I love when I learn while reading. Not only is this a wonderful fictional read, it also is a wonderful true history read. It explores both.I have to say the book was very emotional for me. Angela Hunt's writing knows how to grab a hold of the tear's within. The last 5 pages was a heart wrenching experience. I will not lie I shed many tears at the fate of Paul. It was so well written that it played with your emotions and grabbed a hold of your heart and induced me to many tears.Would I Return To it Again? Absolutely. Even though fiction is blended with Biblical truth, you feel as though you are there with not only Paul and Luke, but also with Aquila and Priscilla and the others as they strive to live and die for their Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ. This story will bless you and remind each of us how we truly should be living. You will want to keep the tissues handy.

I don't remember what prompted me to read this, but I'm glad I did. I passed it along to a coworker. The book gives a very in-depth look and each page made me want to read another. Don't get me wrong, the actual tone is very dry, a lot of court records/transcript snippits... like reading your washing machine manual, but the subject matter kept me riveted. The possibilities the author exposes were fascinating. I loved the photos -- wish there had been more. I can best summarize this book with the adage, "leave them wanting more." Reading this book made me want to know what happened next to some of the key players... so I Googled -- but that left me wondering who was tracking me! Really made me think twice about the current allegations of the government spying on people -- powerful world leaders down to John Q Public. Would definitely recommend this book.

The movie was a touch of the story to peak my interest but I knew something was missing. I began research on google and found this book that seems to match several of the missing pieces in the movie . I also learned that there may other reactors appear to lack proper regulation. I read the book more as a reference book to fill in the gaps such as Silkwood was an honor student. When too many incidents occur at once with Silkwood and the power plant, it is hard to make a smooth transition in a book so I knew it would bounce from one area to the next and what to expect.

Overall, this book is decent for a graduate level radiochemistry class. It has a lot of problems, although some of the answers seem to be at odds with those that we and our instructor got. I have used this for a reference book in addition to the Freidlander book, but this one is perhaps a bit easier to read and understand. There are lots of tabels and figures reproduced in this book, so this book is quite helpful if you're wanting to calculate the probability of certain processes (e.g. what will happen if my gamma ray of a certain energy interacts with matter).

Used as a text book for an introduction to radiochem course, so far it has been an extremely helpful and thorough text.

this book gives you a good state of art on most of radiochemistry-engineering topic related to the nuclear field. For the prices it sales its a very good deal.

Its a nice overview. Easy to read. It has no references more recent than about the year 2000. Some strange omissions, such as no discussions of Currie Limit and MDA.

This book is well written in a very readable style. It is logical in its approach and covers a wide variety of topics within the nuclear sciences. It should appeal to the serious scholar of radiochemistry at both the undergraduate or postgraduate level. It is also worthy of note that the authors have dedicated the book to Nobel Laureate Glenn T. Seaborg.The new edition of a well-known, respected text in the specialized field of nuclear chemistry includes an interactive website with testing and evaluation modules based on exercises in the book.Although the text does not cover practical radiometric separations in great detail, it does provide the reader with a strong overview of this important field of science.

This book is full of laughs but also some really great insight. A definite must have for anyone starting to college or busy surviving through it. This book is the ultimate guide to taking advantage of college situations from getting involved in organizations to getting to know your advisor, I would highly recommend picking this book up. Same advice as your parents give you but a different vessel and it makes all the difference. I love all the quotes and facts sprinkled thorughout th ebook.

Bought this for my graduating high school grandson who was entering college. Recommended by a friend, as it is NOT a saucy, sexy book. It is a guide to all things one has to deal with when leaving "the nest" after their high school days are over and heading off to college or just out on their own into the world that awaits them. My grandson put a picture of him holding this book on Facebook. Believe it or not, 3 replies came back fully recommended.

This book is a great, informative resource for any future college student. The book speaks without condescension about real world problems that a college student might face. However, it is also very funny and down-to-earth. This book will make you laugh while providing great advice. My favorite parts of this book was the testimonials from real college students. This book is practical but genuinely fun at the same time. This book covers not only the usual college advice about classes and dorm living, but also issues such as money management, safety, and the party and dating scene. I highly recommend this book!

The author is correct, in high school we focus on the academic changes, TV focuses on all the fun and party but what happens when there is conflict, when the student is bored or has to do chores by themselves? This book got great reviews, and I am sure it is full of good information - if you have time to read it. The book is over 500 pages and has really small print. I bought it for my high school senior, who is juggling college applications, essays and his academic workload. I don't know about other kids, but I know my son would not have the time to sit and read this, even after he graduates high school, no matter how valuable the information is. It would have been better if it was more in bullet form and not so in depth.

Since this is intended as a gift, it disappoints me tremendously. It is also the holiday season, so packages are highly shipped and the exchanging may cause me to not receive it before the gift is to be given.The book came unwrapped in protective anything over it, in a large box with other items, and zero box fillers (like air bubbles, peanuts, bubble wrap, etc.), which VERY likely caused the book to be creased during the shipping process. For this, minus two stars. Over all, three stars because "new" books should be completely flawless, not creased... as a book lover, the cover of the book having a MAJOR crease is unacceptable... book abuse.
