This is a great book with very interesting information and an engaging reading style regarding the author's personal journey and insights. However, when I put the book down and come back to it again at a later time I find it hard to reintegrate back into the story line. I usually go back a few pages to review and then start again. This is not an easy read by any means but it is an absorbing account of the author's spiritual process and self-discovery. I find it easier as an Audio book to really pay attention to his detailed accounts of Mystical Awakening....I'm happy to have it in my library as a reference book and timely piece of literature. I Honor the author and Honor also the higher level of writing style that can easily be lost in today's marketing of fast paced quick on-the-go pace so many people chase. It takes time to feel and explore the precious insights the author offers, like taking a stroll through a botanical garden. Each flower, tree and blade of grass needs to be respected and Breathed In to fully appreciate its innate beauty and holistic authenticity for humanity to achieve Oneness with Nature, our greatest silent Teacher............Thank you.

An absolutely enlightening masterpiece from a true mystical genius! Well formatted, value priced and virtually impossible to put down - Do not pass up this illuminating work. You will absolutely be better off for reading this! I Highly recommend this to all seekers, old and new, no matter where on the path you may be!

I bought this as a Kindle book out of curiosity. It was surprising at first as I didn't expect to find so many references to Christianity. But then I had never read anything on symbolism and alchemy before. At times it appears to be some mysterious recipe for something (with a pinch of this and a wink-wink of that), and at others it just seems to randomly swirl around with no apparent point to it at all. We are told in the introduction that, if it appears to not make any sense -it is because we have not been "chosen"; I must not have been chosen. I believe you will get much more from Emerson's "Gnothi Seauton" if you are looking for enlightenment. I give it one star for the attempt at explaining why the creation of evil was necessary and inevitable in order for goodness to appear as goodness.

This book is really not for everyone. The wording the author used to describe universal truths is very complicated; it could had been said so much simpler. I love the fact that the author connects chemistry, astrology and spirituality into one whole, which reveals never-changing laws of the universe, and universal cycles.

Makes me want to do more research into the planets and their relationship to the human body, not quite sure about the concept of God being both the good and evil, will have to think on this revelation..

This is a though mystical work which has provided me with a little knowledge of nature. The book has tried to challenge my reasoning to an extern ,but i will continue to ponder till full comprehension.

This book is a great addition to my collection of Boehme's works. It's a little heavy on the Alchemical side and so - to me - not as comprehensible as some of his other works. The book itself is of very good quality with ample spacing between paragraphs and not skimpy - 305 pages.I feel I got what I paid for and so I would recommend this for any one with a Boehme library.

Pretty interesting book.

This review is for this version of the book not the story. This is the second novel I have ordered through Amazon that is horrible published. The print is EXTREMELY tiny and difficult to read, with tight spacing. Chapters are merely seperated by double spacing and all caps. There is no enjoyment in trying to read such a poorly printed book. Returned!

A classic scifi story, WOTW gets better everytime I read it. I've started reading every 2 years or so at Mars' opposition. That's the best time to view Mars through a telescope. Fortunately, I've never seen any evidence of cannon blasts 😉 I gave the recording four stars because the story is timeless, but this particular recording is not a favorite. The narrator seems to mumble and does not have a lot of expression in the reading. I've not shared this recording with anyone else because I am afraid of boring them with the reading. I guess maybe it's supposed to sound like a stuffy 19th century upper class Englishman. It does but sounds more like someone reading a newspaper out loud rather than someone telling a story. It's ok, but I hope a more lively performance is done someday....

Hard to believe elements of the story were conceived in the 19th century - just a few years after invention of the light bulb. Wells imagines robots, lasers, chemical weapons, indiscriminate warfare, panic human exodus, and wide spread human crisis.

I read the book itself many years ago when i was younger. The book was great, fantastic even, i liked it so much that i read it in one week while in school. The Audio book however is another story altogether. This particular "version" of the legendary story has too many extra details added that instead of adding to the plot in a positive way it makes it boring. I was into it, maybe in the 3rd chapter when i started noticing many little parts that where not in the original story. The audio book is OK, if you like a massive amount of details, if not, stick with the original.

Saw the older movie as a youngster and was scared, but this book provides a great inside view of a man's thoughts as he rapidly transitions from a comfortable, tranquil and idyllic life into a struggle for survival, fearing for life itself let alone food and water, where concealment and hiding are the key's to one more day of life. I love this passage:"...a sense of dethronement, a persuasion that I was no longer the master, but an animal among the animals, under the Martian heel. With us it be as with them, to lurk and watch, to run and hide; the fear and empire of man had passed away."

As usual, the original is always better. This could make a great movie, as is. For the generally informed mind, this and other HGW books are informative as to that time period of science and flight. He always referrs to the science and technology of that day, (1890s), and this is where ones own knowledge is broadened. Although, I'll grant you that the average person is ignorant of past technology. So sad , and like the people of this story. This really would make a great movie, as is.

I grew up with the original black and white movie so I was very familiar with the story when the Tom Cruise version came out later which was also a great update. But knowing these didn't prepare me for hearing the classic tale taking which takes place at the turn of the 20th century/late 19th. Well worth your time.

The story often thrilling is under scored by a genuine fear that over takes the reader of a future that promises nothing when all human efforts is expunged by forces we have no say. Only by the most minute elements of our nature made by the Creator saves us. When all that is lost is suddenly given back do we have the sense of all we over looked in life is now seen differently. War of the Worlds is more than a thrilling story of invasion but rather an insight to ourselves.

Review

“Do you ever feel inadequate to be used by God? Insecure? Unsure of yourself? If so, Adam’s new book Talking with God will build your faith in the power of God. If you want to strengthen your daily prayer life, grab this book!” —Craig Groeschel, pastor of Life.Church and author of Divine Direction“Adam is a friend and a great leader who loves Jesus. I mean loves Jesus with everything in him. Seeing Adam’s faith and relationship with Jesus expressed in a book on simple prayer, has me all in! I’ll be giving a copy to everyone on my team at Catalyst because I think it’s that important to read!” —Tyler Reagin, executive director of CATALYST“I love this book because I love the author! Adam is so easy to talk with and in the pages you are about to turn, he'll help you realize that talking with God is easy too. Accessible. Practical. Biblical. This is a must-read!” —Jon Weece, author of Me Too“We cannot thrive without the depth and intimacy of prayer that Adam describes in a beautifully simplistic way. Talking with God is both refreshing and insightful. This is a book we all need to read.” —Jarrid Wilson, pastor and author of Love Is Oxygen“It’s been said that ‘prayer is to the soul what breathing is to the body.’ If that’s true, most of us are spiritually asthmatic. In this delightful book, Adam Weber offers a bit of spiritual ‘respiratory therapy.’ Talking with God is disarming, helpful, and inspiring. It will leave you wanting to pursue a deeper and more regular prayer life.” —Adam Hamilton, pastor and author of Creed“Prayer has always been a place of connection for me but also a place of some confusion, if I’m honest. Adam does an incredible job of walking us through what it means to have a conversation with God, to talk and to listen, and to embrace the mystery that comes with it.” —Annie F. Downs, author of Let’s All Be Brave“Talking with God is a book on prayer for prodigals and the imperfect. Adam speaks on prayer not as someone who has it all figured out but rather as someone who’s on the journey. He reminds us that regardless of who we are or where we’ve been, we can talk with God. —Mike Foster, author of People of the Second Chance“This book on prayer will be an answer to prayer for many. Adam is a guy who loves people and loves helping them navigate difficulties and messes of life to connect to what really matters. We’ve overcomplicated communicating with the God who made us and loves us. This book is a gust of encouragement that will reconnect you to what really matters in this life. It’s been a gift to me, and I hope this book finds its way into the hands of anyone else looking for a true lift.” —Brad Montague, creator of Kid President“I’ve known Adam for years. He understands that in order to truly make a difference in this life, he, along with you and I need to be in constant conversation with Jesus, the One who is able to change everything. This is a book on prayer for those who intend to change the world but are aware they can’t do it on their own.” —Brad Lomenick, author of H3 Leadership and The Catalyst Leader “Adam is a dear friend. We often make prayer too complicated. The emphasis on honesty and brevity is great. Every follower of Jesus should read this book!” —Roger Fredrikson, pastor and author of Learning to Dance“If you’ve ever struggled with prayer and wondered what to say, Adam Weber provides an easy-to-read, accessible guide. He takes you by the hand and leads you to the Father with gentleness and encouragement every step of the way.” —Margaret Feinberg, author of Fight Back with Joy“I laughed. I cried. I read it out loud to my wife. In Talking with God Adam Weber does the seemingly impossible: he makes the topic of prayer fun, approachable, and imaginative! Talking with God will not just encourage your prayer life, it will kindle the fires of intimacy with God.” —Dr. Timothy D. Willard, author of Veneer and Home Behind the Sun“Adam is currently the pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in the country, yet he is quick to share that he is a work in progress. His success as a spiritual leader is due to his humility and authenticity born of his own prayer life. What a joy to know that at any point and time we can talk with God!” —Bishop Bruce R. Ough, The United Methodist Church“I promise, if you read this book and put the words into practice, your life will change, your work will change, your conversations will change.” —Jeff Shinabarger, founder of Plywood People and author of More or Less“Talking with God is not only a phenomenal book, it’s an important book. In a world that is making a lot of noise, Talking with God presents an encouraging, challenging guide to turning that volume down and conversing with our Creator. I don’t know where I’d be without Adam Weber, but I know I’d be further from Jesus. This is a MUST read.” —Luke Lezon from @HoodJesusYo“This is a book on prayer for the person who has heard it all or possibly nothing at all and simply wants their prayer life to grow.” —Lisa Whittle, author of I Want God and {w}hole“Adam delivers to us a practical guide to conversations with God. And when I say practical, I mean that I have NEVER felt like I’ve had a handle on a consistent prayer life. Through this book Adam has helped me take a major step toward just that. Consistency in prayer.” —Carlos Whittaker, author of Moment Maker

This book answers the question all of us ask. And I do mean ALL of us ask. "How Do I Pray?" The reality is even a pastor like myself can get tied up in the "How" and forget about the "Why" and the simplicity that can be found in just talking with God. Adam does a tremendous job of not only unpacking prayer, but does so with a pastor's heart, a normal person's curiosity, and a deep desire to know more himself. You will not finish this book feeling as though Adam sat on a throne above you telling you all that you need to know. Rather you will close the last page feeling like he sat next to you as you both sought to know God in a deeper way. You will walk away refreshed that prayer is possible, talking with God is possible, and it will be something you'll desire to do often.I would recommend this book for any age person as all of us wrestle with the idea of prayer. I also think that it would be fantastic for a Growth Group study to dig deeper into prayer together. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to simply talk with God in a real way.- Pastor Brian HuntCrossroads Grace Community ChurchManteca, CA

I am not an avid book reader, but I simply could not put this book down! Adam has a delightful way with words that is so honest and relatable. I have often gone through struggles with being a Christian and knowing what I should say during prayer, this book shines a whole new light on the subject. To read your Pastor went through the same struggles at one point in his life is so raw, and real. I cannot wait to get home to finish this book! It has so much to offer to everyone.

Talking With God is a book without pretense, written not by an expert trying to impart impressive knowledge, but by a man who is a fellow traveler on the journey to know and love Jesus more. It's easy to read and easy to relate to. It breaks down many of the barriers that we often have in prayer, whether due to our upbringing, our pain and insecurities, or just wrong ideas about God.Adam's authenticity shines through and drives the reader to lay down our preconceived notions and approach prayer simply, like a child, and experience the wonder of having a conversation with the Creator. He doesn't gloss over the tough questions, but leads us to bring those questions and struggles to God.Whether you're looking for answers to questions of faith, new in your journey of following Jesus, or a long-time church goer hoping for something more, you'll find fresh and honest insight into prayer in this book.

What a great tool to change your prayer life for good! Adam's honest and open voice helps us break down the walls between our souls and Jesus Christ that we build up when we put our prayers into the tiny box we grew up believing was the only right way to pray.Instead of focusing on precise structure and clever wording, Adam, through his own personal experience, shows what it's like to see God not as some far-off mystery but as the close friend He calls us to be with Him. This book is all about conversation, not recitation. It's about honesty, not policy. It's about love, not guilt. And it's amazing to hear someone say that you don't have to treat God with such distance and coldness.Adam's stories make it clear that there is no such thing as perfection in prayer, but that it's about being who you are--who God made you to be--when you talk with Him. What a great reminder of who our God is and always will be!

I THINK I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR THIS BOOK TO COME INTO MY LIFE AND NOT EVEN REALIZING IT.Thank you Adam, because even after just the first chapter I felt like you were writing about my life. You are so comforting and I feel this sense of peace and calm knowing that I am not the only one out there feeling lost in prayer.I recommend this book to anyone that just wants to know how to understand prayer and how it can work for you in your own life. Even if you have been a part of a rigid or disconnected religious upbringing where, like Adam tells it, you pray before you eat and before you go to bed! This is the book for everyone.

I was lucky enough to get to read the first chapter. I knew immediately I needed to read the whole book! Adam write very open, real, and honest. You can tell what he writes is coming from his heart, his love of God. Think about how you pray. Do you pray? Do you just pray at meals or bedtime. Why are you not praying for health, or financial security, or help with relationships? Do you not know how to begin a conversation with God? Then get this book!! Learn how God can be your friend, He wants to be your friend. I am so looking forward to the rest of the book!

This book was so real. It has been such an easy read. Adam Weber is so real in his prayer journey and he makes it so easy to relate to. I had tears flowing in the first chapter knowing how I make it far too hard sometimes to pray. Adam helps you see how easy it is to pray (have a conversation) with God multiple times thru the day to remain close to Him. This book is for EVERYONE! It is great for a new believer who has never been taught how to pray. It's great for someone who is interested in knowing God better. And, it's great for a long time Christian to help them deepen their relationship with God. I pray that if you are reading this review and buy this book, that God speaks to you thru it and you are blessed with the message you need to receive. God Bless you!

Insightful and relatable! Prayer is such an effective tool to attain more peace and comfort in your everyday life. This book is for anyone who could use some insight on prayer or simple reminders of how easy it is to pray. Adam is so incredibly genuine and humble, and his remarkable skill at making a message relatable to everyone shines through in this book. His passion for bringing others to know Jesus is immeasurable!! This book has so much power in creating new and deeper relationships with Christ. Embrace Church is so fortunate and blessed to have Adam as our leader--he could probably write a best-selling book on every topic he preaches about and every message series he delivers. God is capable of more than anything we could ever imagine or ask for, so why not pray?!? This book will not disappoint!
